Musterzimmer is a contemporary art collective based in Berlin, Germany. The collective organizes single and group exhibitions and performances, art projects and cultural events by established and emerging international artists working in the fields of painting, drawing, photography, video, media art, sculpture, dance and performance.
Our mission is to promote interesting new art, and to inform our clients, networks and organizational partners about the artists, their work and career.
We do this by means of artist encounters, and through art events, publications, projects and interventions that take place in various locations in Berlin.
For private collectors and both corporate and institutional collections Musterzimmer offers personalized services and advice.
Musterzimmer was established in April 2012 by its co-founders Eemil Karila, Lola Lustosa and Mika Minetti. In May 2012 Musterzimmer opened a gallery space in Crellestrasse 44, Berlin-Schöneberg. During a period of two years more than 20 exhibitions and performance events with over 50 artists and curators were organized there.
Since 2014 Musterzimmer has organized pop-up exhibitions and performance events at various locations in Berlin, including the Haubrok studios, Salon Dahlmann, Finnland Institut and Atelierhaus Meinblau.
Musterzimmer started as a continuation for a social project called Alte Schönhauser Straße 26, established in 2011 by Eemil Karila. He started to document the collective activity in his studio and home through paintings, 8mm film and Polaroid photographs.
After moving to Crellestrasse in 2012, Karila’s new home and studio were opened for artistic collaborations and for the general public, thus turning it into a gallery and a showroom with changing exhibitions organized by the three co-founders of Musterzimmer collective.
Musterzimmer started as a meeting point and an experimental gallery space hosting profound discussions, artwork presentations, exhibitions and interventions. Now the collective continues this work across different venues and art events in Berlin.
